Make sure all water pipes are insulated.
If your property is vacant for an extended period of time turn off the water at the mains.
If you have holiday homes ensure the water is turned off and you have run the hot tap to drain the system.
Leave the attic trap door open to let hot air in.
In the event of a leak
Turn the water off at the main and drain the system by running all the hot taps, turn off all appliances.
Call a professional immediately to repair the leak.
If any electrical appliances are effected turn off the power at the board and get a professional to complete an inspection before switching back on the power.
